Vingis Park
Vingis Park is the largest city park in Vilnius, covering more than 160 hectares of green space in a sweeping bend of the Neris River. It is a favourite recreation area for residents of Vilnius: in summer there are playgrounds, sports trails and cycling paths; in winter an ice rink and cross-country ski trails open up. The park is especially famous as the venue for Lithuania's Song Festivals: the open-air stage here is one of the largest in Europe and can accommodate thousands of singers and hundreds of thousands of spectators. The Song Festival, held every five years, is inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The park also hosts Vilnius's biggest concerts and outdoor events throughout the year. The park is just 2 km from Vilnius Old Town . It has a network of lit running and cycling paths, several ponds, dog meadows and nature trails.
