100 Years of John Coltrane
Jan Maksimovič – saxophone Dmitrij Golovanov – piano Alexey Kryshtal – double bass Arkadij Gotesman – drums (modern jazz / creative) This year, the entire world celebrates a significant date for the jazz community: the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane, one of the most important jazz artists in history. Although he created for a relatively short period and left this world quite young, he had a tremendous influence on jazz music and its development. His discoveries in musical language, harmony, his contribution to the evolution of styles, and his role in developing spirituality, depth, and serious jazz in music history are invaluable. His saxophone sound and performance technique became a new standard and set a high bar for the vast majority of contemporary jazz saxophonists worldwide. In the era of modern jazz, there isn't a single saxophonist who hasn't been directly or indirectly influenced by Coltrane, and his musical style discoveries have also impacted jazz musicians playing other instruments. Of course, we simply must commemorate this anniversary. And who better to do so than a quartet that has created and performed more than 10 sold-out concerts dedicated to John Coltrane? These are Lithuanian jazz masters who need no introduction. Their mastery, level of musical understanding and feeling, spiritual depth, and intellect allow them to confidently and competently recreate and interpret the music of the jazz genius. The first 30 tickets are cheaper. The "Jazz Cellar 11" club's concert series project is partly financed by Vilnius City Municipality.
