The Museum of Ecclesiastical Heritage opened to visitors in 2009, so this October we are celebrating its seventeenth birthday and inviting you to join a tour devoted to seventeen special exhibits. The museum presents the Cathedral Treasury, displays recently discovered royal grave goods, hosts an exhibition about pilgrimage, and the exhibition on the monasteries of Vilnius presents the diversity and heritage of monastic life. You can also learn about historical textiles and a small Italian organ.
Yet among so many exhibits, it is easy to overlook objects of special artistic or historical value, perhaps miss Renaissance architectural elements in the interior of St. Michael’s Church, or even lose your way in the corridors of the former Bernardine convent. Together with a guide, you will walk through the historic ensemble, discover seventeen unique objects and hear seventeen short but intriguing stories. What do the museum staff value most?
What would restorers, art historians and exhibition curators draw your attention to? And what will you like most at the museum?
