A Gift from Berlin
Soloist SALOMĖJA PETRONYTĖ (vocals) Chamber orchestra DA PONTE BERLIN (Germany) Artistic director and conductor TASSILO KAISER (Germany) A musical gift from Berlin is coming to Vilnius. Before your very eyes, it will be unwrapped by the chamber orchestra Da Ponte Berlin together with soprano Salomėja Petronytė, inviting you to savor the splendor of the baroque, the elegance of the classics, and the clarity of elegiac melodies. The orchestra's name was not chosen by accident – "da ponte" means "from the bridge" in Italian. It is an ensemble that uses music to connect different experiences, people, and traditions. Having built a bridge all the way to the capital, this evening it meets Salomėja Petronytė on stage. This young-generation soprano stands out not only for her subtle musicality but also for her bold engagement with contemporary music: she made her debut in the lead role of Bronius Kutavičius's opera "Strazdas – žalias paukštis" ("The Thrush – A Green Bird"), took part in the internationally acclaimed opera-performance project "Sun and Sea," touring with it across Europe, America, and Australia, and has initiated several premieres. And in this concert, the performers unite their talents, building a bridge straight to your heart. The program features Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Edvard Grieg, and others.
