A Tour "Through a Different Užupis"

I invite you to a unique experience – a tour of a different Užupis. This will be a journey to a place that seems familiar to many Vilnius residents, yet in reality, it remains a kind of terra incognita – a mysterious, not fully discovered urban space. During this tour, I promise to show you an Užupis you haven't seen before and tell stories hidden behind the facades of well-known places. We will begin our walk with the prehistory of Užupis – the times when this part of the city was just forming and long existed outside the boundaries of Vilnius city center, right up to the symbolic declaration of independence. Having received our unique Užupis passports, we will cross the symbolic border of this republic and step into a space where reality intertwines with artists' imagination. During the tour, we will learn about the artists' dedication that helped Užupis become a unique territory of culture and freedom, and about the special attention shown to this place by the Dalai Lama. We will rediscover the Angel of Užupis – a symbol of freedom and resurrection, which has become a sign of the spirit not only of this area but of the entire city of Vilnius. During this journey, we will also visit the mysterious St. Bartholomew's Church (Šv. Baltramiejaus bažnyčia), whose history hides many unexpected details. Here, we will also hear the wishes of the creators of the Užupis Republic and its legendary characters – J. Laskaris and the General of Užupis – to all who come to this extraordinary place. After the tour, a cozy conclusion awaits us – a complimentary hot drink in one of Užupis' coziest cafes, where we can further enjoy the atmosphere of this unique place. This will be not just a walk, but a small expedition into an undiscovered territory of Vilnius – Užupis, which still remains a true terra incognita.
