Algimantas Žižiūnas Photography Exhibition "Faces and Thoughts"

On August 7th at 3 PM, the Vilnius Town Hall will host the opening of "Faces and Thoughts," a photography exhibition by artist Algimantas Žižiūnas (1940–2023). The Lithuanian Central State Archives invites you to explore portraits of prominent Lithuanian cultural, scientific, political, educational, and public figures, captured by the professional lens of A. Žižiūnas. The photographs are complemented by interesting and often witty thoughts, insights, and life reflections handwritten by the people depicted. Forty selected photographs from a cycle of over 1800 portraits reveal not only the faces of the individuals but also their values, worldview, and the spirit of their era. During the exhibition opening event, maestro Andrius Krevnevičius will perform on the violin. Representatives of the archives, the photographer's family, and event guests will present the exhibition and discuss A. Žižiūnas's creative legacy. Can't make it to the opening? No worries! The exhibition will run until August 30th. Algimantas Žižiūnas (1940–2023) was a photographer with artist status, a photojournalist, local historian, and public figure. A. Žižiūnas was one of Lithuania's most prominent photographers, documenting the country's cultural, social, and daily life for over six decades. In 2009, he donated his entire photography archive to the Lithuanian Central State Archives.
