All About the Viola | Dovilė Juozapaitienė and Jurgis Juozapaitis

A viola duet is not a common phenomenon in the world of music. That's why the programme prepared by Dovilė Juozapaitienė and Jurgis Juozapaitis is unique – the pieces to be performed are extremely rarely played, not only in Lithuania but around the world! A few intriguing moments of this concert: we'll hear Garth Knox's piece "Viola Spaces", in which a whole bouquet of viola playing techniques and sound possibilities comes to life, along with other works that reveal the viola from the most unexpected angles. Antanas Rekašius's "Groteskas" (Grotesque) will also be performed, dedicated to renowned Lithuanian violists Petras Radzevičius and Donatas Katkus – aside from these musicians and the Juozapaitis duo, no one else has performed this piece! Programme: A. Rolla – Duet for Two Violas No. 3, F major W. Lutosławski – Bucolics (arranged for 2 violas) G. Knox – Viola Spaces for Two • No. 1 Beside the Bridge, • No. 3 One Finger, • No. 4 Nine Fingers F. Bridge – Lament A.
