Alternative Stories of the Most Famous Paintings

The artist's highly popular stories of the most famous paintings are back. What if the heroes of old paintings lived today? Algis Kriščiūnas presents another creative concept – an exhibition of miniature photocollages, where the most famous masterpieces of painting are transported to our times. Did they, who lived hundreds of years ago, love differently than we do? Did they feel loneliness, jealousy, longing, anxiety, guilt, and joy? Did a mother embracing her child in a Renaissance painting experience the same feelings as a mother today? Do lovers' glances, sadness after loss, anticipation, fear, and dreams truly belong to an era, or are they an eternal part of human nature? By transferring the heroes of classical works to the present, Algis Kriščiūnas offers a thought experiment – perhaps only clothing and scenery separate us from them, while the inner world of a human has not changed over centuries. On July 23, at 7:00 PM, an exhibition of miniature photocollages will be presented at Algis Kriščiūnas Art Gallery. During the evening, the artist will tell stories hidden in the famous paintings of old masters and, together with the audience, will try to imagine what these works would look like if they were created today. This is not just a story about art, but also a conversation about us – about what changes in a person, and about what remains forever.
