Andrius Kaniava. A NIGHT AT THE THEATRE

"A Night at the Theatre" is about the music and songs I have encountered myself. It spans a significant period of time—almost a quarter of a century—from "Upside Down" to "The Bremen Town Musicians". It is music that, as a child, youth, and student, I listened to while sitting on the steps of the Theatre, seeing myself in it. These are songs that never had the chance to step into the limelight, but possess such a dramatic charge that they practically beg to be on stage. Not just beg... They haunt me, climb through the window, squeeze through every crack, and demand to be heard," says singing actor Andrius Kaniava. "And I think that night has come!" "You might ask—why not an evening? And you would be right! Evening is the time when you naturally want to wander into a theatre. But while the stage is full of music, lights, and theatrical magic in the evening, at night it remains empty! And that is when it opens up to the past. They say that at night in the theatre, you can hear the voices of the Great Artists who have passed away, the applause of audiences from times gone by, and the music... Unfortunately, theatrical performances do not last forever... They remain only in the memory of those who saw them. And music is what gives us the opportunity to remember the plays that changed the lives of many of us." The program will feature songs from the musicals "Love and Death in Verona", "Fire Hunt with Beaters", from the plays "Eternal Desire", "I Left for the Station", "Rule No. 1 or Dreaming of Vilnius is Forbidden", "The Knight of the Woeful Countenance", and many other beloved performances. Not to mention songs by Andrius Kulikauskas, Tom Waits, and "4 Non Blondes", as well as the legendary plays "Upside Down" and "The Last Musicians of Bremen". See you there? On stage, Andrius Kaniava will be joined by: Živilė Mackevičiūtė – backing vocals, Tadas Dešukas – violin, Sigitas Mickis – piano, accordion, Jonas Miniotas – bass guitar, Darius Miniotas – percussion.
