Anton Chekhov "UNCLE VANYA" (Dir. Tadas Montrimas)

A one-act (1 hour 15 minutes) immersive performance taking place at Markučiai Manor in Vilnius (124 Subačiaus St.). The performance is in Russian. For those who do not understand Russian, a guide-booklet (available in LT, EN, PL) will be provided before the show to help you experience and understand the play. Created using an innovative concept, the performance invites the audience to travel with a guide through different locations, becoming invisible and silent witnesses to the events unfolding there. The Alexander Pushkin Museum in Markučiai is the ideal setting to recreate late 19th-century "scenes from country life," as Chekhov himself described them. It offers not only a convenient geographical location and authentic, atmospheric rooms, but also a hilly landscape around the house, perfect for staging scenes both indoors and outdoors, giving the audience a true sense of "time travel." The audience for "Uncle Vanya" is divided into 4 groups of 15 people. Each group is assigned a guide-stalker whose task is to coordinate the journey through the masterpiece written by Chekhov in 1896. The guides will introduce their groups to the rules of the game, the audience's rights and duties, and hand out masks that must be worn until the very end of the performance. Four separate scenes will be performed simultaneously, observed by different groups moving through the performance space as directed by their guides. Although the rooms of Markučiai Manor are separated by doors, both the audience and the characters, while in their own space, can hear life happening behind the walls. The goal of the creators of "Uncle Vanya" is not to recreate the plot of the play, but the situation itself – the Voinitsky home filled with hatred, self-pity, anger, as well as love and passion. We want to create conditions for the audience not only to watch, but to experience and fully immerse themselves in entirely new feelings and sensations. The performance is in Russian.
