AQUARIUM
A two-act play based on P. Marber's play "Closer" Theatre ATVIRAS RATAS presents a play centered on four strangers, brought together by chance and led by their individual choices into a confrontation with love, desire, personal complexes and total existential loneliness — one that is both achingly familiar and dreamlike, and that becomes the worst kind of nightmare. A synthesis of theatre, film and music, AQUARIUM invites all viewers — familiar and unfamiliar, caring and indifferent, empathetic and cynical, disillusioned and hopeful — to RECOGNIZE THEMSELVES IN THE THEATRE. //–It's a lie. A bunch of sad, beautifully photographed strangers, and all those rich assholes, art experts, explain how wonderful it is, because it's exactly what they want to see. Those people in the photos are sad and lonely, but the world in the photos looks wonderful. So the exhibition works as a comfort, which is a complete lie. And what could be more appealing than one big, sweet lie?–// The roles are created by the already well-known and beloved ATVIRAS RATAS artists, theatre and film actors Giedrius Kiela and Judita Urnikytė, young-generation actor Matas Pranskevičius, and debuting actress Karolina Kildaitė. //–Lying is the most fun you can have without taking your clothes off. But it's better to take them off.–// The kaleidoscope of human relationships, consistently highlighted and often uncomfortably questioned in director Ieva Stundžytė's earlier works, will this time be reflected in AQUARIUM. //–Why isn't love enough?–// Cast: Karolina Kildaitė, Judita Urnikytė, Giedrius Kiela, Matas Pranskevičius, Jurgis Marčėnas Music: Jurgis Marčėnas Set design, costumes: Laura Luišaitytė Video direction, editing: Paulius Oficerovas, Dinas Marcinkevičius Concept and direction: Ieva Stundžytė Running time: 2 hours with an intermission Age rating: 17+
