Tea evening “Lig Tave sulauksim…” (Until You Arrive…)

The tea evening “Lig Tave sulauksim” (Until You Arrive) presents events and historical facts about Vilnius and its residents in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as M. Šlapelienė's own recollections of these distinguished figures: Jonas Basanavičius, Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas, Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė, Jonas Jablonskis, Emilija Vileišienė, Mikas Petrauskas, Kipras Petrauskas, Julija Matjošaitienė-Biliūnienė, Juozapas Ambraziejus, Mikalojus Konstantinas-Čiurlionis and others.

This is the first tea evening created by Eglė Tulevičiūtė in 2013 and loved by Vilnius residents and visitors to the city. It now invites Vilnius residents to gather every year and “wander” the streets of old Vilnius, meet distinguished figures and experience meaningful moments, pausing the relentlessly rushing passage of time, if only briefly.

Today we live in an age of ceaseless change, with no time to have the genuine experiences that would help reveal the meaning of our existence. Yet meaning requires another person, so the greatest value lies in human connection and joy experienced in company rather than alone.
