On the last Sunday of summer, we invite you to visit the museum and the Liepkalnis water reservoir for free! With a free visitor ticket you will be able to get a close look at the first power plant in Vilnius, take part in inspiring tours, and view the current exhibitions. On this day you can also explore the world of technology, take part in a creative 3D pen workshop, and try out countless interactive museum exhibits yourself. And by registering for the tours at the water reservoir, you can cool off from the summer heat, dive into an “underwater life,” and hear the guides’ engaging stories accompanied by impressive visualizations. At the museum you will be able to see: TRANSFORMATION HALL (3.5 eu) An interactive exhibition about the human relationship with energy, created to inspire interest in science and technology and to present the exact sciences in an understandable and engaging way. Each exhibit consists of a historical narrative and an interactive challenge. EXHIBITION “NIKOLA TESLA – THE ENERGY THAT CHANGED THE WORLD” (3.5 eu) Do you know how the ideas of one man changed our world in the field of electrical energy? The museum’s newly opened international exhibition invites you to discover Tesla’s revolutionary inventions – from alternating current and the Tesla coil to visions of wireless energy transmission – and to experience how bold thinking and innovation shaped today’s technological world. VILNIUS INDUSTRY EXHIBITION (free) The industry exhibition invites you to discover Vilnius industry from the founding of the city to the present day. You will learn about the technologies developed in Vilnius and the items produced here, which may seem like a distant past to people today, or sometimes evoke nostalgia. The exhibition presents how widespread industrialization changed the face of Vilnius and people’s everyday lives. In this part of the museum you can also visit a typical 1970s Lithuanian settler’s home – a Khrushchyovka apartment. INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION “SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR CHILDREN” (free) Young museum visitors are invited to explore the Energy and Technology Museum’s interactive exhibition “Science and Technology for Children,” spread across the museum’s two upper floors. The exhibition’s aim is to present the natural sciences in a simple, engaging, and accessible way. This exhibition is especially popular with young museum visitors, but adults are not left indifferent either. In this colorful exhibition, through play, you will get to know the hyperboloid, Jacob’s Ladder, the Möbius strip, the gravity well, the Bernoulli ball, and many other exhibits. GUIDED TOUR “LIGHT UP! HOW THE POWER PLANT WORKS” (free) It’s worth taking a walk through the first power plant in Vilnius at the museum. Its authentic equipment – steam boilers, turbines, control panel – is installed on the museum’s first floor. In the basement, the power plant’s equipment is complemented by steam condensers and piping. Here you can see working models of the Kruonis Pumped Storage Power Plant and the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Part of the latter (the reactor) was used in filming the HBO series “Chernobyl.” LASER AND PHOTONICS EXHIBITION (free) An interactive exhibition dedicated to photonics and laser technologies! We invite you to see up close how the technologies of the future are born, and to try out games and simulations created specially for this exhibition. Did you know that a perfectly tuned laser beam can cool atoms to a temperature lower than even that of open space? Lithuania has been setting laser trends around the world for many years, yet this field still holds many secrets for the public. It’s time to discover them! 3D PEN DRAWING (2 eu) All day long, young museum visitors will be invited to develop their creative skills in a workshop, during which selected pictures will be drawn using special 3D pens, turning your children’s drawings into unique souvenirs. SPACE SWING (3 eu) This exhibit is designed to simulate free movement in various directions. Similar constructions were used in astronaut training as far back as the mid-20th century, for example in NASA’s “Mercury” program. Price: 3 EUR. Card payment only.
