Do you remember filmmaker Ilja Bereznickas's animated film Baubas (The Bogeyman)?
More than one generation has grown up watching this film and dreaming of how wonderful it would be to befriend Baubas himself: a charming, cheerful, inventive and slightly wild character.
Now Baubas is moving from the screen to the theatre stage. In director Milda Mičiulytė's production, he invites young audiences to a live encounter with imagination, where even the strangest characters come to feel close to us. For their parents, it is a chance to remember a world full of fantasy and that childhood feeling when everything seemed possible.
When a storm drives sleep away, the only way to fall asleep again is a story told by your parents. But what if your parents have no time? Then you turn to your grandfather.
The production tells the story of a girl who, with the help of creativity and her grandfather's wisdom, turns her fear into a friend. It is a story about loneliness that imagination can dispel, and about friendship that, unlike dust, cannot be vacuumed away.
The story invites children and their parents to befriend their fears and reminds us that creativity itself can be what brings us closer together.
