Bolling. An Acoustic Evening
In a beloved venue of Antakalnis residents, music will resound where classical elegance meets the spirit of a jazz wanderer. We will hear Claude Bolling’s “Concert for Classic Guitar and Jazz Piano Trio” – a work that encodes multifaceted world music and the mischievous spirit of improvisation. Claude Bolling (1930–2020) – a French jazz pianist and composer who united two seemingly different worlds: classical music and jazz. His famous concert for classical guitar is like a seven-color musical mosaic, where Spanish and Mexican rhythms intertwine with Baroque grandeur, the freedom of blues, romantic melodies, and even the energy of African dances! On stage – an authentic chamber ensemble lineup: ROKAS JURKUS – a classical guitar virtuoso, creating the melodic axis and masterfully balancing between the discipline of classical music and the freedom of improvisation. KAMILĖ ZAVECKAITĖ – piano, where jazz expression and classical elegance merge, guiding the music through an authentic succession of moods. BERNARDAS RUČINSKAS – double bass, a firm yet flexible foundation on which the entire musical architecture of the piece rests. ROKAS GENERAUSKAS – percussion, breathing life, changes of tempo and character, moving the dynamics into new spaces. Bolling’s spirit, just before the start of summer, will be reborn in the concert like a musical bowling game – the parts of notes and instruments will roll like balls down the lane, each time aiming at a different pin… oh! At a different climax and a different instrument solo! And before aiming at the concert’s main pin set – Bolling – the quartet will warm up the audience together with the charming vocalist EIVILĖ MICEIKAITĖ, singing to the sound of Rokas Jurkus’s guitar. This event is part of Miesto laboratorija’s Dainykla. The Dainykla project is funded by Vilnius City Municipality.
