Born in 1959

Dominykas Vyšniauskas - trumpet Jan Maksimovič - tenor saxophone Karolis Šarkus - alto saxophone Dmitrij Golovanov - piano Eugenijus Kanevičius - double bass Arkadij Gotesman - drums (post bop, modern) This team of performers represents the true elite of Lithuanian jazz, capable of gracing the most prestigious festival stages. Jazz Cellar 11 is proud to present the new project “Born in 1959” by this collective for the first time in Vilnius. The project's initiator, Arkadij Gotesman, was himself born in 1959 and celebrated his jubilee last year. However, the year 1959 was globally significant for the jazz world: numerous compositions and albums were born in the USA, radically transforming this music genre. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Don Cherry discovered new forms of expression, while Ornette Coleman introduced the concept of free improvisation. This project is dedicated precisely to these jazz pioneers and their legacy. The project is a dedication for our times, with most of the music created by the young and talented saxophonist, composer, and arranger Karolis Šarkus, widely known not only for his original projects but also for his performances with Collaborative Jazz Septet and Vilnius JJAZZ ensemble. Alongside the project's initiator and composer, the entire constellation of Lithuanian jazz stars will perform: saxophonist Jan Maksimovič, trumpeter Dominykas Vyšniauskas, pianist Dmitrij Golovanov, and bassist Eugenijus Kanevičius. Such a powerful team guarantees that this evening will be simply unforgettable. The first 30 tickets are cheaper. The “Jazz Cellar 11” club's concert project is partially funded by Vilnius City Municipality.
