The flute and piano duo "Cantabile" , formed at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, has over several years become a creative space allowing the young performers to search for their unique sound and new forms of dialogue. Flutist Polina Chistova and pianist Rugilė Melytė will guide the audience through music of various eras and styles – from Romanticism and Impressionism to works by contemporary composers, opening up horizons inspired by improvisation, flamenco, and even electronic music. The evening's program will feature music by Franz Doppler, Philippe Gaubert, George Enescu, Ian Clarke, Juozas Pakalnis and other composers. Some pieces will reveal the singing and lyrical nature of the flute, while others will showcase spirited energy, virtuosity, and unexpected rhythmic twists. Here, the piano is not merely an accompaniment, but an equal partner, creating a colorful soundscape and a subtle dialogue with the flute. The biographies of both performers are rich with experience from international competitions, festivals, and masterclasses. But most importantly, it is their ability to complement academic tradition with a personal relationship to music, giving each piece life, spontaneity, and sincerity.
