Chamber Choir "Aidija" Concert
The programme of the concert "Voices of Renaissance Birds" will invite listeners to travel back to the Renaissance era - a period when secular polyphonic song flourished in European music. At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, composers sought new ways to express human emotion, humour, the beauty of nature and the joy of life. Alongside sacred music, madrigals, chansons and ballettos became especially popular - subtle, expressive works in which poetry and music merge into a single narrative. The concert will take place at the Church Heritage Museum, in the former refectory of the Bernardine monastery, beneath Renaissance vaults built by Leonas Sapiega and adorned with his family's coat of arms, so those attending the concert will not only listen to works from the Renaissance era but will also be able to admire the architecture of the period.
