Charlie Parker Tribute | Manvydas Pratkelis Quartet

A concert dedicated to the legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker. The pioneer of bebop, whose work changed the history of jazz. The Manvydas Pratkelis Quartet will present a program revealing the energy, virtuosity, and inexhaustible freedom of improvisation inherent in this music. Captivating not only with his masterful performance but also with a unique sense of humor, Manvydas allows the audience to relax, get to know the music more intimately, and hear its stories. In 1955, the saxophone virtuoso Charlie Parker (1920–1955) passed away. He was one of the most innovative jazz creators. This concert is dedicated to the memory of the legendary musician and composer. The initiator of the project, Manvydas Pratkelis, has been studying Parker's improvisation style for many years and integrates it into his own work. The saxophonist, who earned a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, stands out for his versatility – his style combines traditional jazz, free jazz, fusion, hip-hop, funk, and R&B. Pranas Kentra – composer, head of the Department of Rhythmic Music at VIKO, member of Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble and Broken Glass 4tet. Vytis Nivinskas – Doctor of Arts, associate professor, one of Lithuania's most prominent double bass players, music creator and researcher – has performed in over 20 countries with numerous renowned artists. Founder and co-creator of CinAmono, Baltic Asteroids, Trio UΕΎribis, and many other groups and projects. Darius Rudis (drums) – lecturer at VIKO, LMTA, and B. Dvarionas School, one of the country's most active and respected drummers. The Dainykla project is partially funded by Vilnius City Municipality.
