Concert by Skriaudžiai ensemble 'Kanklės' | Museum Night LNM 2026

Join us for a concert by the Skriaudžiai ensemble 'Kanklės'! This is the oldest folk art collective in Lithuania, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Its repertoire consists of local vocal and instrumental folklore, music recorded, adapted for kanklės, or created by the ensemble's leaders – Pranas Puskunigis, Leonas Puskunigis, Antanas Degutis – as well as songs and hymns by Adelė Kazlauskienė, the queen of songs. The people of Skriaudžiai consider the kanklės a family relic: by performing traditional repertoire and preserving archaic playing techniques, they maintain a spiritual connection with the past and pass on a symbol of their Suvalkija identity to the younger generation. In 2026, the tradition 'Skriaudžiai Kanklės: A Century-Old Musical Tradition' was inscribed in the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage Values of Lithuania.
