Concert by the Skriaudžiai ensemble "Kanklės" | Museum Night at the Lithuanian National Museum 2026
Join us for a concert by the Skriaudžiai ensemble "Kanklės"! This is the oldest folk art ensemble in Lithuania, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Its repertoire consists of local vocal and instrumental folklore, music recorded, adapted for kanklės, or created by the ensemble's leaders – Pranas Puskunigis, Leonas Puskunigis, Antanas Degutis – as well as songs and hymns by the queen of songs, Adelė Kazlauskienė. The people of Skriaudžiai consider the kanklės a family relic: by spreading the traditional repertoire and maintaining archaic playing techniques, they preserve a spiritual connection with the past and pass on a sign of their Suvalkija identity to the younger generation. In 2026, the tradition "Skriaudžiai Kanklės: A Century-Old Music-Making Tradition" was inscribed in the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage Values of Lithuania. Time: 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM For everyone No registration required Free admission to the House of Histories from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM (last visitors admitted at 11:30 PM) Museum Night events at the Lithuanian National Museum 2026: https://lnm.lt/renginiai/muzieju-nakties-renginiai-lietuvos-nacionaliniame-muziejuje-2026/
