Concert “When Violins Speak” When violins speak, music transcends eras and cultures, meeting without borders, without distances, without the walls of time. It is a dialogue in which different times and experiences merge into one living musical narrative. Performers Irma Bakševičienė, violin Dalia Suraučiūtė, violin The programme will feature works by A. Vivaldi, J. Haydn, J.M. Leclair, M.K. Čiurlionis, E. Magi, G. Bacewicz Irma Bakševičienė studied at the M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art, and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, (in the classes of prof. I. Armonaitė and prof. R. Katilius), where she earned her master's degree. She is a laureate of several national and international competitions, including: the H. Eller Violin Competition in Tallinn (1st prize, 1992), and the C. Nielsen Violin Competition in Odense (Denmark). In 1991 the performer, together with fellow students, founded a string quartet, with which she performed in Lithuania, Germany, Finland, England, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and elsewhere. The violinist is also active in other ensembles, and for many years took part in the programmes of the early music ensemble “Musica Humana.” Since 1995, I. Bakševičienė has played in the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, where she currently serves as the orchestra's second concertmaster. With the LCO she has performed in the most renowned concert halls of Lithuania, Europe, Japan, Australia and South America. Dalia Suraučiūtė studied at the M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (in the class of prof. R. Katilius), and continued her studies as a postgraduate trainee at the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. The performer is the concertmaster of the second violin section of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. She has played with the world's most renowned conductors and soloists, and has performed in numerous famous concert halls in various countries across Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. D. Suraučiūtė is also actively involved in chamber ensembles, and her repertoire includes music of various genres.
