From now on audiences can see the latest staging of the play with actor Tomas Rinkūnas, directed by Mantas Vaitiekūnas. It will be a new directorial vision, a new interpretation and an entirely different sound for the legendary comedy. If you have already seen “The Caveman”, we invite you to discover it anew. And if you haven’t seen it yet – don’t miss the chance to experience both versions. These are two distinct one-man shows in which two talented actors tell the legendary story in completely different ways. On stage you will still be able to enjoy the audience-favourite version of “The Caveman” performed by Paulius Valaskevičius and directed by Dainius Kazlauskas. First staged on Broadway in 1996, the comedy “Defending the Caveman” became the longest-running one-man show in Broadway history. The play later spread around the world and has been staged in more than 30 countries. “The Caveman” explores a theme that never goes out of fashion – the relationship between men and women. Why can’t men do several things at once? Why do women get upset over the bathroom mirror being splashed again? Why, after so many years, do we still argue about the same things? “Men and women often look at the world in different languages and express their feelings differently. Yet it is not our differences that divide us, but our inability to understand them. When we learn to accept one another not as enemies but as different fellow travellers, our differences become not a problem but a strength.” – Tomas Rinkūnas. Witty everyday situations, sharp observations and humour allow both men and women to recognise themselves. The world changes, yet the questions of relationships remain the same – from the days of the caveman to today. In Lithuania “The Caveman” was first performed in 2005 and over two decades has become a true theatre legend – performed more than 1,000 times in different Lithuanian cities. Over this time the lead role has been played by Dainius Kazlauskas, Kostas Smoriginas, Darius Meškauskas, Vaidotas Martinaitis and Giedrius Savickas. The play is created in collaboration with Theater Mogul.
