Dust, Bones and Miracles | Film Screening and Discussion

The traditional "Lokys, liūtas ir šakelė" Monday screenings in the Lukiškės Prison courtyard will this time be complemented by a discussion organized together with the film production company "Taip toliau". On Monday, August 3, at 8:00 PM, there will be a screening of Aistė Žegulytė's highly acclaimed film "Dulkės, kaulai ir stebuklai" and a discussion with one of the film's protagonists, restoration technologist-biologist Olga Ščit-Latonienė . We will delve into A. Žegulytė's unique cinematic narrative. "Dulkės, kaulai ir stebuklai" is an artistic documentary about what is eternal and what is temporary. While people fight against time, trying to preserve paintings, the bodies of the deceased, and their memories, microscopic fungi invade their space. This year, the film was chosen as the best Lithuanian premiere at the "Kino pavasaris" film festival and received a Special Mention in the international competition. In the "Envision" competitive program of the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), the film was awarded for best direction, and at the Tallinn "Black Nights" Film Festival, it won the award for best documentary film. After the screening, film critic and curator Aistė Račaitytė will interview Olga Ščit-Latonienė, who works at the LNDM Pranas Gudynas Restoration Centre and collects and studies microfungi in addition to paintings and other art objects. She will share her work secrets and experiences from filming A. Žegulytė's movie.
