Live music, bodies that jazz and almost speak aloud, freedom and exuberance, grace and elegance – Lindyhopera will pull you out of everyday life and awaken dormant vitality. The energy of vintage jazz ensemble The Schwings Band, the movement architecture of choreographer Elzė Višnevskytė and the jazz-and-swing cascades of composer Remis Rančys guarantee an unforgettable evening. The performance explores the relationship between freedom and structure. Jazz dances – Charleston, black bottom, tap, lindy hop, balboa – were born from a need for liberation and joy. Lindy hop originated in 1920s Harlem, New York, within the Black community. Elzė Višnevskytė – jazz dancer, choreographer, educator. Since 2017 she heads the studio What a Jazz. She participates in international jazz dance festivals in Europe, Asia and the USA. Remis Rančys – musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer. Founder of The Schwings Band.
