Tour "Bona Sforza: To Love Impossible to Rule"
"We bring a wife for the king not to rule, but to give birth," the nobles used to say when choosing brides for him. One can imagine how unpleasantly surprised they were when they realized they had brought Sigismund the Old an Italian bride who believed she was born to rule—first and foremost, men. This tour is an invitation to get to know an educated, charismatic woman who had chickenpox as a child, had a best friend named Sabinella, and a dog named Bari. Then she grew up and became a ruler: she wore henna eyeliner, took care of gunpowder, drained swamps, traded in ash, ate meat pies, and spent 7 years in Vilnius. How did Bona feel in our rain? And in her children's rooms? What did the ruler have in common with a Turkish harem? How did she get along with her Sigismund, who was much older than her? What would her daughters-in-law say about Bona? Her subjects? And is it really true that she was "the woman who escaped the curse of falling in love"? After this walk, we hope you will choose where to put the comma in the tour's title: TO LOVE IMPOSSIBLE TO RULE. Tour starts: near St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Didžioji St. 12. Ends: Bona Sforza's Renaissance Garden next to the Palace of the Grand Dukes. Duration: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes. Please bring your purchased ticket. Free for children under 12. During the event, the organizers may take photos and videos, and later use the material for promotional purposes. Contacts: Vaida +370 604 43032 Agnė +370 682 80981 vilniuscitytours@gmail.com
