Guided Tour of the Exhibition „Superglue, or How to Make a Friend“
The Contemporary Art Centre (ŠMC) invites you to visit the exhibition „Superglue, or How to Make a Friend“. This international group exhibition marks the beginning of the new director Valentinas Klimašauskas's exhibition program and invites a re-evaluation of ŠMC's relationship with its audience. It explores themes of identity creation, connection with others, and the role of contemporary art in the face of increasing global polarization and fragmentation. Looking at historical and contemporary works, the exhibition asks: what kind of glue could unite a fragmented society today? Is it still possible to build a relationship with another? Is this one of the functions of contemporary art? Finally: how can we, despite everything, become friends? Overview tours with ŠMC guides are an excellent way to concisely get acquainted with different, yet thematically overlapping exhibition ideas. It's like an exercise for the eyes and mind, encouraging not just observation but also engagement – creating a connection with the artworks, their choreography, and the stories they tell.
