Free Museum Entry on 28 June!

Summer is in full swing, but free Sundays are not going anywhere. We invite everyone to discover the world of technology, try out a 3D pen workshop and explore the museum's wealth of interactive exhibits. On the last Sunday of the month, the Energy and Technology Museum welcomes visitors with a free general admission ticket to inspiring guided tours, educational activities and exhibitions! What awaits visitors: TRANSFORMATION HALL (€3.50) The Transformation Hall is an interactive exhibition about humanity's relationship with energy, created to inspire curiosity about science and technology and to present the exact sciences in an accessible and engaging way. Each exhibit combines a historical narrative with an interactive challenge. EXHIBITION "NIKOLA TESLA – ENERGY THAT CHANGED THE WORLD" (€3.50) Do you know how one person's ideas transformed our world in the field of electrical energy? The international exhibition now open at the museum will invite you to discover Tesla's revolutionary inventions – from alternating current and the Tesla coil to visions of wireless energy transmission – and experience how bold thinking and innovation shaped today's technological world. VILNIUS INDUSTRIAL EXPOSITION (free) The industrial exposition invites you to discover Vilnius's industry from the city's founding to the present day. You will learn about technologies developed in Vilnius and objects manufactured here that seem like a distant past to people today, yet sometimes evoke nostalgia. The exposition shows how universal industrialisation transformed the face of Vilnius and the daily life of its people. In this part of the museum you can also visit a typical Lithuanian new resident's apartment from the 1960s – a Soviet-era prefabricated flat. INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION "SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR CHILDREN" (free) Young museum visitors are invited to explore the interactive exhibition "Science and Technology for Children" at the Energy and Technology Museum. Spread across the two upper floors of the museum, the exhibition's aim is to present natural sciences in a straightforward, attractive and universally accessible way. This exhibition is particularly popular with our youngest visitors, though adults are equally captivated. In the colourful exhibition you will playfully encounter a hyperboloid, Jacob's Ladder, a Möbius strip, a gravity rail, a Bernoulli ball and many other exhibits. GUIDED TOUR "ENLIGHTEN YOURSELF! THIS IS HOW A POWER PLANT WORKS" (free) A walk through Vilnius's first power plant is well worth your time. Its authentic equipment – steam boilers, turbines and control panels – is installed on the museum's ground floor. In the basement, the power plant equipment is complemented by steam condensers and pipework. Here you can see working models of the Kruonis Pumped Storage Plant and the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. A section of the latter (the reactor) was used in filming the HBO series "Chernobyl". 3D PEN DRAWING (€2) Throughout the day, young museum visitors will be invited to develop their creative skills in a workshop where chosen images are drawn with special 3D pens that will turn your children's drawings into unique souvenirs. SPACE SWING (€3) This exhibit is designed to simulate free movement in multiple directions. Similar structures were used in astronaut training as far back as the mid-20th century, for example in NASA's Mercury programme. Card payment only. Guided tours of the Transformation Hall – €3.50/person. Guided tours of the "Nikola Tesla – Energy That Changed the World" exhibition – €3.50/person. 3D pen drawing – €2/person. Space Swing – €3/person. Opening hours: 10:00–18:30.
