GIEDRIUS NAKAS QUARTET: ORIGINAL MUSIC

This is an evening for those who want to experience jazz not as background music, but as a lively, unpredictable, and engaging narrative. Pianist and composer Giedrius Nakas presents a program of original music, featuring pieces from his jazz albums. This is music where modern jazz meets neo-soul, hip-hop, classical, rock, and cinematic dramaturgy. One moment it can be subtle, lyrical, and hypnotizing, the next – erupting with vibrant energy, unexpected rhythms, and improvisations. One of Giedrius's most notable works is the album „No Fear, Full Of Love“ , recorded in New York, featuring internationally acclaimed US jazz musicians Ben Williams, Justin Brown, Troy Roberts, and Caleb Curtiss. The compositions on the album stand out with memorable melodies, contrasts, and a constant balance between meticulously written music and improvisation born on the spot. Another significant creative stage is the album „The Dream I Forgot“ . Its music resembles a dream or a film without a screen: longer, multi-part compositions gradually build tension, shift moods, and create a unique narrative. Here, not only individual virtuosity is important, but also the sensitive dialogue of the entire ensemble, which is why each live performance takes on new colors. Giedrius Nakas studied in Vilnius, The Hague, Groningen, and New York, and has performed in many European countries and the USA. He is also known to the Lithuanian audience from joint projects with Andrius Mamontovas, Jurga, Monika Liu, Monika Linkyte, the band „Saulės Kliošas“, and other well-known artists. His original program has been featured at festivals like „Kaunas Jazz“ , „Šiauliai Jazz“ , Paliesius Manor, and other concert venues. This evening, four excellent jazz musicians from the Baltic States will meet on stage. Giedrius Nakas – piano, keyboards Karolis Šarkus – saxophone Tuomas J.
