Guided tour of the exhibition “Hidden Within” | Royal insignia and queens’ jewellery

In 2024, the burial regalia of King Alexander Jagiellon and Queens Elisabeth of Habsburg and Barbara Radziwiłł were discovered in the crypts of Vilnius Cathedral: crowns, a sceptre and an orb. This exceptional find was complemented by the gemstone rings and chains of Queens Elisabeth of Habsburg and Barbara Radziwiłł, testifying to the craftsmanship of Renaissance goldsmiths. During the tour you will learn what symbolic meaning the rulers’ funerary insignia held, and you will become acquainted with all the other treasures found in the hiding place: jewellery, a collection of precious stones, panels from the Chapel of St Casimir in Vilnius Cathedral, bishops’ insignia and votive offerings. Duration of the tour – 1 hour. Price of the tour – EUR 1 + visitor ticket (EUR 10, reduced – EUR 5). Advance registration is required by phone + 370 5 269 7800 or by e-mail edukacija@bpmuziejus.lt. Tickets can be purchased at the museum box office or through the „Paysera Tickets“ system. The tour is an accompanying event of the Church Heritage Museum exhibition “Hidden Within: The Treasury of Vilnius Cathedral”. The exhibition is organised by the Church Heritage Museum, with the Vilnius Academy of Arts as partner. The museum’s activities are funded by the Archdiocese of Vilnius, the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Vilnius City Municipality. The project is partly funded by the Research Council of Lithuania.
