The "Džiazuojantis Žvėrynas" Festival presents: "HOME JAZZ BAND" August 22, 8:30 PM Mindaugas Bikauskas – guitar, vocals Marius Zaremba – clarinet Vadim Stankevičius – guitar Denis Murašov – double bass "Home Jazz Band" – traditional jazz hooligans since 2011. Like a time machine, they will transport you to 1920s New Orleans or 1940s New York. They break standards, discover hidden gems in history's chests, and bring them back to life. The listener not only dives into a whirlwind of dance but also leaves the concert with knowledge about New Orleans street marches, Vaudeville, ragtime, big band music, and European jazz. "Home Jazz Band" jazz is all kinds – authentic, sometimes punk-rock, soft as silk, and sometimes rough and dirty. Most importantly, it's real. Mindaugas Bikauskas - guitar, vocals. An international dance teacher, performer, and musician from Lithuania. He started dancing in 2006. In 2008, he formed the traditional jazz dance group "Rhythm Junkies", and in 2011 "Home Jazz Five", now known as "Home Jazz Band". Inspired by dance, his bands have different jazz era sounds and specialize in playing for dancers. Mindaugas is a self-taught musician, although music is deeply rooted in his family. His grandfather was a great Lithuanian accordionist, violinist, and pianist, and his father – a great representative of Lithuanian traditional folk music, playing the clarinet and the Lithuanian folk wind instrument Birbynė. Having written hundreds of folk arrangements, he dedicated his life to teaching and popularizing folk music. Marius Zaremba – clarinet. I have been with the band since its inception, and I started my musical journey at the age of six when I enrolled in the M.K. Čiurlionis National School of Art. I also studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in performance. During my studies, I performed with a retro jazz trio, where I tried to gain my first improvisation knowledge. At that time, I was also an active participant in hip-hop culture. With the band “Eazee Shoq”, we recorded the album “Retrospektyva” in 2009. I also started creating electronic music, which was included in the compilation “Ritmo kovos”. Since 2008, encouraged by my colleague and friend Mindaugas, I joined the swing ensemble “Rhythm Junkies”, with whom we released three albums and toured half of Europe. A decade ago, we formed a new band “Home Jazz Band”. We continue to work with them to this day. I am also a journalist in television shows and projects. Vadim Stankevičius – guitar. A talented Lithuanian jazz guitarist. In his hands, music comes alive through his virtuoso Gypsy jazz style performance, with which he captivates audiences at various festivals and projects. Vadim also creates unique acoustic and jazz guitars, valued even by international music stars. His precision in restoring instruments is trusted even in preserving Lithuanian music history, for example, in restoring the legendary Vytautas Kernagis' guitar. He is an exceptional personality, combining a deep love for music, stage energy, and a unique craft into a cohesive work of art. Denis Murašov – double bass. Joined the collective in 2013. He graduated from the Vilnius Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatory and the Vilnius College Faculty of Arts. From the very beginning of his studies, he performed with the most active traditional jazz collectives in Vilnius. He gained experience on many of Lithuania's most famous stages. With several collectives, including Home Jazz Band, he toured extensively at European festivals. He performed and recorded albums with collectives such as The Schwings, Andrej Polevikov Trio, The Swing Cats, The Gypsons, Ella Fitzgerald Tunes, and many others.
