HOURS OF SACRED MUSIC. SINGING EUROPE
RUN BY SINGERS EUROPA CHOIR Conductor JEREMY JACKMAN (UK) Organist JONATHAN LILLEY (UK) Following concerts in Leipzig, Vienna, and Paris, the RBS Europa Choir returns to St. Casimir's Church, where they have already captivated audiences with their sound. This success is sure to be repeated as Jeremy Jackman takes the conductor's podium. His biography reads like a chronicle of English choral music. Having started his career as a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral in London, he later joined renowned vocal ensembles such as The Tallis Scholars, The Sixteen, and The King’s Singers. For twenty years, he directed the English Baroque Choir, performing in prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and St Mark's Basilica in Venice. The programme selected for St. Casimir's Church is a journey through five centuries: from 16th-century polyphony, through the gentle melancholy of Fauré, the energy of Rossini, and Mendelssohn's prayer for peace, to Britten's modern hymn of praise. The finale features an unexpected Lithuanian touch: “Kur giria žaliuoja” (“Where the Forest Grows Green”), arranged by Jackman himself. This concert promises to captivate not only with its music but also with the warm, community spirit of choristers gathered from different European countries, enveloping and uplifting everyone in attendance. Programme: John Sheppard, Gabriel Fauré, Felix Mendelssohn, Benjamin Britten, etc. Free admission
