Immersive performance “Kolonija Antika”
Kolonija Antika opens its gates to the city's guests! Step through the heavy metal doors of Block II of Lukiškės Prison and you find yourself in an isolated, mythical colony-city. This dystopia is not as distant as it may seem at first glance. A vivid antiquity, a dangerously recognisable present, or a pre-programmed future? Or are they one and the same? Unfolding simultaneously across several floors of Lukiškės Prison, “Kolonija Antika” invites the audience to move freely and choose their own route through the experience. Trust fate and let yourself be led onward into a dystopian world. At the heart of this immersive performance lies the eternal cycle of renewal. Here, chaos breaks down ossified forms and opens up new possibilities. Fragments of the story surfacing throughout the spaces allow everyone to assemble their own narrative, experiencing it from different perspectives. “Kolonija Antika” deliberately departs from conventional theatre. The world it creates provokes ritual – as a response to collapse and a way to survive. A dystopia in which rebirth and collapse are inseparable. What does it remind you of? “Kolonija Antika” is the newest immersive work by director Paulius Markevičius and the theatre “Tolyn gilyn” , offering the audience a genuinely authentic experience. In 2024, “Tolyn gilyn” won the Golden Stage Cross for another immersive performance, “Café Existants”, as well as the Outstanding Performance Award at the Vilnius International Theatre Festival “Sirenos” in 2024. “Kolonija Antika” was created in Block II of Lukiškės Prison, which has never before been open to audiences. It is the first immersive performance of its kind staged in this unique heritage site. Recommended duration of the experience: 1 hr 30 min. The beginning and the end are wherever you decide.
