The actors' costumes and set details, changing in color and form, encourage babies to move and experience the joy of discovery. For adults, it's an extraordinary opportunity to see their little ones in a completely different – unusual, artistic environment that stimulates children's imagination and fosters creativity. The performance is without words, so movements become a universal language here. Or perhaps you think that babies don't need theatre because they don't understand anything? B. Banevičiūtė suggests taking a closer look at the perception and expression capabilities of little ones, abandoning stereotypical attitudes, and encourages changing the perspective on society's youngest members. B. Banevičiūtė constructs the dramaturgy of the performance based on the collective action of actors and child-audience members, and the idea of the performance is rooted in the image of the world tree found in the mythology of many nations, whose roots represent the past and the underworld, the trunk – the present and earthly existence, and the branches – the future and the sky. In Lithuanian mythology, grass snakes live at the bottom of the tree, people and bees at the trunk, and birds in the branches. On stage during the performance, actors creatively transform abstract objects of various shapes and textures into mythological attributes of the world tree, leaving room for the little ones to interpret the suggested ideas themselves. “There is no single correct answer as to what babies should understand and how they should react during the performance; all their reactions are appropriate and acceptable, so mothers and fathers can relax and not worry if their child is doing something differently than those nearby,” suggests the choreographer. According to B. Banevičiūtė, art is special precisely because it allows viewers to think in their own way, feel in their own way, and enjoy it. Friendly performance – suitable for children with increased sensory sensitivity and disabilities. Without words – suitable for non-Lithuanian speakers. Don't forget – it is necessary to take off your shoes when entering the performance space. /// Birutė Banevičiūtė – choreographer, director, pedagogue, began her creative activity as the artistic director of the dance theatre "Dansema" in 1993.
