Interactive Tour „Old Technologies that Changed the World“

Soon, the History Houses (Istorijų namai) will open an exhibition about modern high technologies. While the exhibition is being prepared, we invite you to head down to the ethnographic storage area in the basement of the History Houses and talk about old technologies that, in their time, fundamentally changed human life. Some of them were used for hundreds or even thousands of years, so among the 19th–20th century ethnographic exhibits we will look for tools and devices whose counterparts can also be found in archaeological material – from the Middle Ages, the Iron Age, or even the Neolithic period. At the end of the tour, you will be able to try out how a spindle whorl, used in Lithuania from the Neolithic period right up to the early 20th century, works. Who is it for?
