Interactive Tour "Technologies Used for Millennia" | European Archaeology Days
To mark European Archaeology Days, we invite you to explore the Lithuanian National Museum's ethnography repository and look for artifacts whose analogues can also be found in archaeological material – from the Middle Ages, Metal Ages, or even Neolithic times. There will be many such items. We will find them among the tools of a potter, a carpenter, a fisherman, and a spinner. This means that some technologies remained unchanged or changed very little for hundreds or even thousands of years. Consequently, human life must not have changed very much either… So, we invite you to discuss, from an ethnographic perspective, what human daily life was like during those hundreds and thousands of years while the same technologies were in use. At the end of the tour, we will be able to try out a spindle, used in Lithuania from Neolithic times until the early 20th century. Where? At the LNM House of Histories (T. Kosciuškos St. 3, Vilnius). When? June 13, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The event is free! Limited capacity, advance registration required by email [email protected]
