Jazz Cellar 11 meets London's 606 Jazz Club
Steve Rubie - flute, sax (UK) Dmitrij Golovanov - piano Aliaksey Kryshtal - double bass Augustas Baronas - drums (modern jazz) Jazz Cellar 11 is stepping onto the international stage, and where else but in one of the greatest jazz capitals, London, also known as the New York of Europe. Together with the legendary London jazz club “606”, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, we will introduce the London scene to our audience, and Lithuanian jazz musicians to London. In March, we sent Lithuanian jazz visionary and one of the most important figures in Lithuanian jazz, pianist Dmitrij Golovanov, to London for a concert, and in November, we invite you to Jazz Cellar 11 to hear the return visit. Joining our musicians D. Golovanov, A. Kryshtal, and A. Baronas will be saxophonist and flutist Steve Rubie from London. Steve is the founder of the group Samara, which performs jazz and Brazilian music, and an important figure on the London jazz scene. He is also the club owner. His creative biography includes collaborations with musicians such as Julian Joseph, Bheki Mselesu, and Liane Carroll. In 2019, he was honored with the Musician’s Company award for lifetime achievement and contributions to jazz music. Dmitrij Golovanov needs no introduction to our regular club visitors. It can be confidently said that he is not only one of the best jazz pianists in Lithuania but also one of the most famous and active Lithuanian jazz musicians. In addition to his creative work, as an educator and president of the Lithuanian Jazz Federation, Dmitrij tirelessly combines his musical career with fostering the Lithuanian jazz scene and promoting Lithuania's name abroad. First 30 tickets - cheaper. The “Jazz Cellar 11” club's performance project is partially funded by Vilnius City Municipality.
