Kalle Tikas (Estonia) and Algis Fediajevas

On 19 August at 20:00, an evening of unique guitar music awaits at Miesto Laboratorija. Two performances are on the programme: Kalle Tikas from Estonia and Algis Fediajevas. Kalle Tikas is a guitarist from Estonia with an original sound, blending blues, avant-garde and elements of dark country music. Known as a member of the duo Ringhold, Kalle has also pursued a solo career for many years. He began his musical odyssey in the 1990s in various blues and progressive rock bands, later moving into the free improvisation scene, and also composed music for theatre. In 2015, together with experimental vocalist Eleonora Kampe, he formed Ringhold, a band that also shaped the direction of Kalle's solo work. A shaman of acoustic psychedelia with a singular sound, treading uncharted paths through work built on dialogues between his acoustic guitar and voice. His music holds both bright, meditative echoes – at times folk, at times Eastern – and bursts of noise. Experimenting with song form (which readily makes room for instrumental improvisation) and with the possibilities of the acoustic guitar (unusual harmonies drawn out by hands alone), Algis has released four solo albums and toured in many European countries. He is currently working on a new album.
