Kirtan and Bhajan Morning Led by SHIVA DREAM & AMBIKA May 31, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM in Vilnius, at SHIVA DREAM studio (P. Lukšio Street 6, Building 3, 4th floor, Studio 450) Bhajans are traditional Hindu devotional songs, dedicated to praising deities, meditation, and communal spiritual experience. Bhajans ARE BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF CLASSICAL INDIAN MUSIC, but they can also be interpretations of folk melodies - performers often improvise in melody and rhythm, which gives bhajans vitality and allows the expression of the performer's individual spirituality. Bhajans ARE PERFORMED IN VARIOUS INDIAN LANGUAGES – Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Sanskrit, and others – thus preserving India's multilingual cultural heritage. The texts are rich in poetic metaphors, symbols, and philosophical thoughts. TRADITIONAL INSTRUMENTS are USED for bhajan performance – harmonium, mridanga. Instruments complement the vocal line and enhance the emotional impact. The ARTISTIC POWER of bhajans lies in their ability to combine aesthetic beauty with spiritual impact. The music is not only pleasant to listen to but also creates an elevated state that leads to inner joy and positivity. In the morning program: - bhajan interpretations (kirtans), - OM NAMAH SHIVAYA meditation (with a therapeutic drum), - heartfelt conversations over tea.
