Kiškių sukilimas (The Rabbit Uprising) || A Glove Puppet Solo Performance for Children

Director and artist Rimas Driežis decided to stage Kazys Binkis' children's poem "Kiškių sukilimas" (The Rabbit Uprising) in the spirit of the old English Punch and Judy puppet show. This resulted in a performance where rebellious rabbits march into interwar Kaunas, invade the Kaunas Theatre, and demand that opera star Kipras Petrauskas stop hunting rabbits.

This entire patriotic mosaic, crafted from the poems and verses of the poet, playwright, and classic of Lithuanian literature Kazys Binkis (1893-1942), is masterfully performed by a single actress, Lijana Muštašvili, with a multitude of glove puppets. Children will enjoy watching the rabbit battles, while parents can immerse themselves in the nostalgic and ironic atmosphere of the temporary capital.
