Even before it, gospel music was behind the lights, the screens and the audiences of thousands. That is precisely where what we admire today began. Donatas Montvydas shakes arenas with high-voltage, imagination-defying performances. Vilnius Voices stand out for the architecture of their voices, the clarity of their sound and their harmony. He is used to being at the centre. They are used to creating shared harmony. In this concert, differences become an advantage — a performance where the most important question is not "who" but "how" it will sound. "Having started my path to the stage through gospel music, I still feel how much truth and power it holds. It is no coincidence, then, that the programme includes Oh Happy Day — a piece that is symbolic for me, reminding me why I chose music at all. Alongside it, I will of course also perform my own songs — from my earliest to my newest. But they will sound different. With Vilnius Voices we were not looking for a louder sound, but a stronger one — one that is born from trust and shared energy. When that happens, music truly brings people together," says Donatas. This is beautifully illustrated by Kristina Žaldokaitė's recollection: "We share a friendship of more than twenty years. Once, Donatas's vocal teacher Rosita Čivilytė brought him to a rehearsal of my ensemble, where we were singing the legendary gospel hymn Oh Happy Day. From the very first notes it was clear that we were musically aligned. The friendship that began then continues to this day — and Oh Happy Day sounds more powerful than ever at our joint concerts."
