Lantern Tour “Fire and Light in the Life of Our Ancestors” | ŠVENTARAGIS
We invite you on an exploratory journey through the world of light and fire that has accompanied humankind from the Stone Age to the present day. The tour will take place in the Old Arsenal, in the Archaeology exhibition, where the oldest finds will reveal how our ancestors tamed fire and turned it into a part of everyday life. You will learn how people in the Stone Age lit fire, what light sources they used on dark evenings, and how fire helped them survive harsh winters. You will view archaeological finds testifying to the earliest hearths, fired vessels, and lighting devices. During the tour we will also look at worldview – the symbols of the sun and fire, their meaning in everyday life and rituals. We will discuss how the change of seasons affected people's lives, which festivals were related to light and the sun, and how fire became not only a necessity but also a mark of the sacred. This is a story about the light that warmed, protected, and united the community. Who is it for? Adults, families with children Start? 6:00 PM (duration 6:00–7:30 PM) How much?
