Lazy Diamond | LINGUA

LINGUA | Lazy Diamond An event in the new music concert series "PLAYGROUND" In the PLAYGROUND summer programme, the band Lazy Diamond follows the series' direction of exploring different listening practices and the fringes of contemporary music. The band's work interweaves ambient electronics, contemporary jazz aesthetics, field recordings and multilingual storytelling, creating a distinctive space that spans concert, soundscape and dreamlike sonic atmosphere. Beneath this sonic aesthetic lies "Lingua" (Lat. tongue, language) – an album whose central symbol is a tongue of coal speaking in different languages of the world. By blending instrumental timbres, everyday sounds and constantly shifting vocal textures, the band members create an enigmatic space marked by dreamlike associations and time flowing more slowly than usual. The compositions feature more than twenty different languages, including Swahili, Persian, Thai and many others. The album unfolds docufictional stories of real figures: Antanas Škėma and Franz Kafka meet on a symbolic plane, as do Kaija Saariaho and M. K. Čiurlionis, George Gershwin and a Ukrainian lullaby about sleep and dreams. This is a concert that invites you to journey through layers of time, different cultures and the imagination.
