Lithuanian Premiere. SAUCISSON | Taigi Circus What happens when everything we're used to becomes uncontrollable, absurd, and ultimately vanishes? Used to watching, we suddenly feel watched. Used to following instructions, we suddenly no longer understand their language. Used to the answering machine, we suddenly have to answer ourselves. Those who operate in secret become visible to a thousand eyes. Those holding their own life in their hands realize they're actually holding a sausage. And in the end, we too become a sausage, carelessly dropped onto someone's table. Elena Kosovec and Izabelė Kuzelytė's contemporary circus performance SAUCISSON embodies absurdity, a playful interplay of elevating and dismantling circus technique, and the tension between beauty and disgust, mercilessly deconstructing on stage the stereotypes that wrap around the body. The performance unfolds in a world where an object considered sacred loses the symbolic meanings society has assigned it, pleasure intertwines with fear, and the verticality of a rope twists into a knot in the viewer's stomach. Blending theatre, aerial acrobatics, dance, and operatic singing, SAUCISSON – a resonant French title that translates as “sausage” – was born from its creators' lived experience of everyday absurdity and their reflections on the paradoxes of daily life. In 2024, SAUCISSON became a laureate of the Circus Next platform.
