Long-Form Improvisation Workshop (Vilnius)

In this workshop you will learn how to develop improv characters and keep from losing them, how to develop their ideas and values. In the world of improvised performances there are usually two categories of characters – normal (human) and strange (radical). Normal characters correspond to people in our world. They have all kinds of colours and traits that don't cross into absurdity. They are interesting, human, and represent the audience on stage. They create a connection with the audience through logic or humanity. Strange characters are characters with non-standard beliefs and an absurd view of the world. Often being radical and speaking uncomfortable truths, they can end up in absurd situations. In the role of a strange character, the improviser searches for extremity and madness. They create a connection with the audience through emotions and traits that we often suppress in real life. We will explore the reactions, core traits, and points of view of these characters. After the workshop you will better understand how you can be different in these roles than usual, and surprise yourself and your partner. In the workshop we will recall and learn how to: Find interesting themes in context, grow them, and develop them. Once you find an interesting idea, avoid wearing it out and use it tastefully. Organically split the roles of the strange and the normal person. Change your character's perspective and tactics during a scene. Find clarity in group scenes by splitting into normal and strange characters. Join situations or scenes created by your colleagues, extend and strengthen them rather than bringing in chaos. Maximum number of participants – 12. 10:00-13:00 first part 13:00-14:00 break 14:00-16:00 second part. Price: 16 euros for students and people in financial difficulty, 29 euros standard price, 38 euros for those who want to support the theatre. Location – P. Vileišio g. 18N, Vilnius (entrance through the courtyard). In long-form improvisation, scenes are created without rules. Performers don't tell the audience about the structures or methods behind the scenes. Together with the team, the performer has to create their own challenges, overcome them, and surprise the audience. A strong long-form improviser is able to consciously manage their emotions, make interesting decisions, step outside their comfort zone, experiment, absorb information from their partner and the environment, and draw on personal and shared experiences to create strong content. The improvisation workshop will be led by Deividas Borodulinas, artistic director of the "Impro Kaunas" theatre. He has performed in Oslo, Copenhagen and Warsaw, and has studied improvisation with masters such as Will Hines, Adam Cawley, Rob Norman, Jeff Michalski, Monika Smith, Alex Berg, Inbal Lori and others. Deividas has graduated from the UCB and WGIS "game of the scene" style improvisation schools. He enjoys improvising boldly and constantly searching for the limits of what improvisation can do. Deividas performs with the troupes "Mini-Fridge" (international) and POSH, and also appears together with members of the "Impro Kaunas" theatre at private events.
