Night Walk at Lukiškės Prison in Lithuanian

Escaping to prison has never been this easy. The historic Lukiškės Prison complex, surrounded by high walls, invites you for a walk. Lukiškės Prison is not the answer to all questions. But who wouldn't want to visit it? Those interested in the history, architecture and daily life of prisoners are invited to a unique daytime tour, while thrill-seekers are highly recommended to experience it at night. Two different walk formats — an experience unlike any other in the entire region. We can't shake the feeling that this kind of walk, following in the footsteps of the condemned, is the best kept secret in the entire city. A reminder that writer Žemaitė was imprisoned here, as were signatories of the Lithuanian Act of Independence Jonas Vileišis, Mykolas Biržiška and Vladas Mironas, partisan commander Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and many other historical figures. Henrikas Daktaras was also imprisoned here, but you already know that. Day and Night Walk We've often heard stories about life in prisons, the criminal world, or Lukiškės. But who knows it better than those who know Lukiškės Prison well and worked there for quite some time? Our prison guards spent a considerable amount of time at Lukiškės and saw everything with their own eyes. Add years of professional guide experience and connections, and they all become almost dream conversation partners. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and save your deepest ones for the walk. Death row cells, visitation rooms, human containers, informers, historical figures, forbidden items, horses, love affairs, secret artworks, prisoner weddings, prison escapes, and spaces of Lukiškės Prison never seen anywhere else. After sunset, the prison truly comes alive with spirits and becomes even more interesting. It is more than an escape room, a tour, or a night at the museum. An interactive walk in the dark — you, the walls of Lukiškės Prison, and a flashlight. We guarantee this is a walk you will never forget for the rest of your life. Walk by day and by night! Get your tickets in advance. Truly worth it. Lukiškės Prison Objects The current Lukiškės Prison complex — incidentally, a very modern and expensive penal institution — was designed by architect G. Trambickis and his team. The prison was completed in 1904. The Lukiškės Prison complex consists of the administrative building, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the dormitory building, the prison building, the prison-hospital building, the fence, and the control checkpoint. This complex is included in the Register of Cultural Values and holds the status of a national cultural heritage site. Lukiškės Prison 2.0 Lukiškės Prison has awakened the attention of city residents and artists. The new version of Lukiškės Prison creates a different image, emotion, and narrative. Lukiškės Prison 2.0 is not just a new or better version of a prison. It is much more. Conversion is one of the most interesting cultural phenomena in Lithuania. From now on, we look only toward a better version of the prison rather than looking back. Lukiškės Prison is full of culture, music, and bright people. Our proposed conversion format already unites 650 creators and residents. The resident community at Lukiškės creates goodness and shares it with city residents. This historic heritage site in the centre of Vilnius has become a generator of music, modern art, design, and culture. Lukiškės Prison has become a wonderful place working for the benefit of its communities and supporting its artists. There is so much culture here that artists and creatives want to create here. This vision and concept has attracted the attention of Europe and the world. All that remains is to change your perspective and enjoy this conversion.
