The „Džiazuojantis Žvėrynas“ Festival presents: Young jazz talent „Northbound Quartet“ August 22, 6:00 PM Romualdas Karžinauskas - saxophone, compositions Vytis Kišūnas – keyboards Domas Valiauga - bass guitar Mindaugas Venclovas – drums Northbound Quartet is like four elements that act separately yet merge into a single force. The saxophone's melodic narrative, the keyboards' harmonic space, the bass guitar's pulse and the drums' energy blend into one musical journey – from subtle, acoustic jazz to energetic, contemporary fusion. All members of the quartet are professional musicians with a formal music education, who actively perform and take part in their own original projects as well as other creative ventures. This experience allows Northbound Quartet to search not only for a familiar jazz sound, but also for their own unique musical identity. The quartet's repertoire blends jazz standards, original compositions and contemporary fusion pieces. The music travels from jazz tradition to a present-day sound, while leaving room for improvisation, spontaneity and a live connection between the musicians. Four musicians. Four elements.
