Petras Vyšniauskas and Tomas Kutavičius – Unread Letters II
One evening, three masters of improvisation, and a musical dialogue that cannot be repeated. On September 12, at 6 PM, saxophone virtuoso Petras Vyšniauskas, pianist and composer Tomas Kutavičius, and percussionist Arkadijus Gotesmanas will meet at St. Catherine's Church with the program "Unread Letters II". This is a reunion of three mature artists after a long break. Three decades ago, their joint concerts resonated from Vilnius to Detroit, and the projects they created together became part of Lithuanian jazz history. Today, they once again take the stage to continue the conversations captured in letters and albums – only this time, they are born right here, in front of the audience. Every moment of the concert is a new creation. Vyšniauskas's improvisational freedom, Kutavičius's compositional minimalism, and Gotesmanas's ingenuity merge into music that never sounds the same. This is a concert where there will be no "encore" – only a unique, one-time version of this evening. Petras Vyšniauskas – recipient of the National Culture and Art Prize, has performed in over 70 countries, recorded dozens of albums, and contributed to the establishment of a professional saxophone school in Lithuania. Tomas Kutavičius – pianist and composer, combining improvisational and academic music, has created symphonic, chamber works, and music for theater. Arkadijus Gotesmanas – one of Lithuania's most creative percussionists, a leader of the free improvisation scene, has performed in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the USA, combining jazz and contemporary academic music in his work. This is an evening where three exceptional personalities create music as if they were alone – yet it speaks to everyone.
