Ramūnas Alminas | In the Light of the Absolute

Ramūnas Alminas' exhibition "absoliuto šviesoje" ("In the Light of the Absolute") will be open at the VDA gallery "Artifex" until May 29. Is emptiness a lack of matter, or its necessary precondition? This ontological question becomes a starting point in Ramūnas Alminas' work. The question, which once led ancient Indian thinkers to the concepts of emptiness (shunya) and Persians to zero (sifr), permeates the author's worldview, and the exhibition objects transform into philosophical instruments. The surfaces of the metal objects, reacting to light and the viewer's position, create an illusion of changing forms or an unexpected sensation of velvet or silk. These works evoke a meditative experience, opening up a timeless, paradoxically transparent state. This is an artistic search for the Absolute – an effort to grasp what is ephemeral, to give it an aesthetic form, and to suggest a calm knowing that another dimension exists beyond the boundaries of matter.
