RE:TURN | „Portretas“ (solo accordion)

Jonas Vozbutas is an accordionist whose musical journey has already taken him to stages across Europe. He has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Rouen Opera House and the Singer-Polignac Foundation’s residence in Paris, and played on France Musique, France’s national radio station. Jonas now lives in Paris and studies at the city’s National Conservatory of Music and Dance. In „Portretas“, Jonas has brought together music that matters to him and reflects his roots, life and studies in Paris, as well as the different musical traditions encountered by a young performer. Alongside music inspired by Lithuanian folk traditions are works by G. Frescobaldi, D. Scarlatti, J. S. Bach, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer, J. Brahms, F. Chopin, G. Ligeti, N. Kapustin, G. Aperghis and M. Richter.***Jonas Vozbutas’s performance at the Music Magic Club is part of the “RE:TURN” project. The project is partially funded by Vilnius City Municipality. RE:TURN is a Music Magic Club project that aims to bring professional Lithuanian performers who currently live abroad or have recently returned to Lithuania into Vilnius’s cultural orbit. These musicians often have significant international achievements and are well known in other countries, but have not yet had enough opportunities to perform regularly in their homeland. In 2025, he won the international accordion competition in Vilnius and the highly prestigious Arrasate Hiria competition in Spain. J. Vozbutas actively performs across many European countries, the United States and Canada. His biography includes performances at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Rouen Opera House, the Singer-Polignac Foundation’s residence in Paris, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, on France Musique, at the prestigious ManiFeste festival in Paris and the Festival Pablo Casals de Prades, as well as concerts with Grammy-winning ensembles Ensemble intercontemporain and Kremerata Baltica, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and chamber orchestras. Since 2024, he has been artistic director of the music festival at Seda’s St John of Nepomuk Church. From 2015 to 2024, J. Vozbutas held a scholarship from the Mstislav Rostropovich Charity and Support Foundation “Help for the Children of Lithuania”. He is currently studying at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, in Professor Vincent Lhermet’s class.
